The methodology for on-farm research in Huila, Colombia, is summarized. Through this research, the technology generated at the exptl. station is evaluated, its technical feasibility is validated, and the local adaptable technology is included so technical recommendations be appropriate for farmers from the technical, economic, and social points of view. This technological adjustment proved that farmers adopt more easily low capital investment technologies. In Southern Huila, recommendations have been adopted on planting distance, population density, and tutoring systems. Var. Frijolica P1.1 has just begun to be adopted. (CIAT)
