Amidst growing global awareness and landmark discussions that spotlighted the central role of sustainable food systems in mitigating climate change and biodiversity loss, the Alliance of Bioversity and CIAT continued to implement impactful research across Asia, Africa, and the Americas.

Many topics in the headlines are not new to us — sustainable food systems, agricultural and food biodiversity, climate resilience, gender inclusion – but the way we approach them as a research and innovation organization is constantly evolving. In this year’s Annual Report, we are pleased to share with you a selection of achievements from 2021, particularly those that will continue to have an impact in the coming years and decades.
The Alliance in 2021: Global Overview
2021 was a momentous year for global collaborations on food systems, climate change and biodiversity. We brought our scientific expertise to bear when informing policymakers, the private sector, and others during the UN Food Systems Summit, COP26, and our 2nd International Agrobiodiversity Congress.
We stayed engaged with our stakeholders and partners around the globe with particular attention to women, indigenous peoples, and other groups at risk of further marginalization during the pandemic.
